Los Angeles Beachfront HQ

Jerde's headquarter offices are located in the heart of Venice Beach in Los Angeles, CA - just steps from the sand and the outdoor vendors and performers that line the boardwalk. Jerde fits in Venice with its bohemain roots and community of artists, architects, photographers and other creatives. And the view isn't bad either.

One Design Studio

While we have project offices all over the world, we have one design studio. This way our designers, architects, planners, and landscape teams can get together in the same room, at any given moment, to come up with the best design solution for any number of the firm’s on-going projects.

Employee Diversity

Our staff is as diverse as our work. Approximately one-quarter of our staff were born outside of the US, in places like Japan, Latin America, Latvia, Korea, Romania, Singapore, South Africa, Tianjin, Turkey, United Kingdom and Uruguay. And they speak more than 20 languages.

Starts with a Vision

We use an urban planning approach to design our mixed-use projects around the world. This means starting with an exploration of how people will use the place and moves to an intense study of how it can be designed to enhance people's everyday lives and invigorate their cities.

All in the Details

Our exploration at the start of any project begins with visiting the place and surroundings to take in all of the sights, sounds and smells to formulate contextual inspirations. Working in Dubai, we collected 12 different colors of sand from the surrounding desert to inform the color palette of the project’s elevations.

Intensive Charette

For all of our projects we often develop our design process through an intensive design study session. This occurs in various ‘war room’ studio spaces within our Venice headquarters. We often invite clients who are visiting from around the world to come into this studio to participate in the immersive environment.

Work Stations

Jerde's architects and designers work in an open studio to foster discussion and collaboration. Sketches, markers, study models, diagrams, process drawings are often strewn about as the solution evolves and begins to materialize.

Model Shop

Jerde has an in-house model shop that helps give physical form to conceptual designs. The model shop works with a variety of modelmaking materials, as well as technologically advanced 3D printers and laser cutters.

From nearly 35 years of projects in over 250 cities, we have collected mountains of drawings, research, and models. We have our extensive works archived in our headquarters so our designers will have ready access to the volumes of materials.
