JERDE Projects Pick Up Pair of Awards
JERDE saw not one but two of its projects honored with the announcement of this year's Rethinking the Future Awards. The Rykadan Office Headquarters concept was given the top honor for Workplace Interiors, while Shanghai World Trade Center Phase III was an awardee in the Mixed-Use category.
Rethinking The Future Awards is an annual architecture award program which aims to identify and promote outstanding work in the field of Architecture and Design across the World. JERDE's winning projects competed with over 1400 other submissions from more than 50 countries, spanning architecture, landscaping, urban design, product design, and interior design categories.
The Rykadan office project is currently under construction in the trendy Wong Chuk Hang district of Hong Kong. While originally asked to design the office tower's exterior facade, our scope quickly grew to encompass the interior design of the building's public space, including the main entrance corridor, lobby, lounge, parking garage, and restrooms. In order to compete with similar offices in the neighborhood, the design is upscale with an artistic edge and unique feel, full of found objects from all over the world.
Opened last year, the Shanghai World Trade Center - Phase III is a new mixed-use urban village on prime real estate just off the world-famous Bund in Shanghai. Composed of two modern towers rising above a commercial podium of diverse programs and amenities, and a low-rise apartment hotel reminiscent of a wooden box, the project creates a dynamic realm offering dining, entertainment, work, and lifestyle destinations all walkable and complementary to its surroundings.
