Adana Town Center named 'Best Shopping Centre' at 2021 MIPIM Awards

Working collaboratively with the JERDE team, we conceptualized a place that would not only fit into the existing cityscape and attract premiere tenants, but also a place of connections and be-longing. We are honored and grateful for this award and recognition.

The JERDE-designed Adana Town Center, located in Adana, Turkey, has been awarded "Best Shopping Center" at the 2021 MIPIM Awards held at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes, France.

Created in 1991, the MIPIM Awards is an internationally-renowned real estate competition at MIPIM, the world's property market. It honors the most outstanding and accomplished projects, completed or yet to be built, around the world, the very best of the real estate industry.

This year, in addition to the usual criteria, the jury also looked at how the project adapts to the consequences of the pandemic on the way people live, work, shop and entertain themselves.

Developed by Esas Gayrimenkul, the Adana Town Center – or Esas 01 Burda, as it is known officially in Adana - is an integrated "retail-tainment" project combining a series of dynamic spaces that offer a variety of experiences, resulting in a truly unique destination. With a concept design that was created with the community in mind, Adana Town Center is more than a shopping mall, it's a refreshing new village area for locals and visitors. Bringing such a space to life calls for maximum flexibility and adaptability, which was achieved by creating a multitude of spaces for events and attractions. These public venues will allow the project to continuously evolve and add value over time.

"Working collaboratively with the JERDE team, we conceptualized a place that would not only fit into the existing cityscape and attract premiere tenants, but also a place of connections and belonging.  We are honored and grateful for this award and recognition," said Yasemin Uzelli of Esas Gayrimenkel.
